RBS PTO COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS

The Roaring Brook School PTO has established a variety of committees to enhance and enrich the school experience for all our students. Below you will find a brief description of each.

Around the World Fair: Organize and plan this cultural event for Roaring Brook Students. The Around the World Fair provides students with an opportunity to learn about different countries and cultures by visiting themed booths and participating in hands-on cultural activities.  It’s a great opportunity to share your culture with the RBS community.  Multiple volunteers will be needed to run booths.

Art Appreciation: Volunteers are needed to facilitate this art enrichment program. Pre-scripted units include instructions, a reproduction of a famous piece of artwork, music, and supplies for a corresponding project…no planning or artistic experience needed!

Bingo: A Roaring Brook School family night. Volunteers needed to help run this fun-filled event.

Blazer’s Backyard Bash:  Organize and plan the annual RBS event that takes place the first Friday of June.

Blazer Mascot:  Show your RBS spirit by dressing up as our beloved mascot, Blazer.  A few times a year, there will be opportunities to wear the costume for an appearance at an assembly or family event.  The kids and teachers love when Blazer makes an appearance.

Book Fair: This Scholastics Book Fair needs volunteers to help with set-up, classroom previews, and sales for the Fall and Spring.

Box Tops: Box Tops have gone digital.  Organize this fundraiser to earn money for Roaring Brook School.

Bulletin Boards: Design, decorate and handle scheduling of large bulletin board in main hallway.

Care Team: Facilitates any assistance that is needed for a Roaring Brook School family during a time of need.

Deb Chute Fundraiser:  Organize and plan family photoshoots for the Fall.

Display Window: Different committee/school events can be displayed throughout the year in the glass enclosure as you first walk into the school building. Please contact the chairperson if you would like to utilize this display.

Grounds, Gardens & Memorials: Volunteers help maintain the school’s gardens and courtyards.

New Families Liaison:  Welcome and greet new families to the RBS Community.

Paul Cryan Photographs: Amazing photographer takes black and white pictures of your children.

Room Parents: Volunteers provide assistance to the teachers throughout the year.

School Pictures: Volunteers needed to help children be ‘picture perfect’ for this school wide event.

Screen Free Week: Volunteers plan activities to help families stay unplugged for 1 week.

Spring Auction:  Plan and organize a spring auction for the RBS community.

Square One Art:  Plan and organize this creative art fundraiser.

Staff Appreciation Events: Plan a Fall and Spring teacher luncheon and other staff appreciation events.

Volunteers at Large: Volunteers that could be called upon for a variety of tasks throughout the year.

Wolf Pack Game: Coordinate and organize a RBS night at a Wolf Pack Game.

Yard Goat Game:  Coordinate the date and ticket sales for a RBS night at the Yard Goats in the spring.

Yearbook: Coordinate and plan a yearbook for grades PK-4.  Includes taking photos, inserting photos within page layouts, proofreading, as well as, overseeing orders and delivery.

4th Grade-Ice Cream Social: Plan and organize an ice cream social to take place during 4th grade survivor day.  Coordinate with a local vendor for ice cream supplies.

4th Grade Signature T-Shirts: An end-of-the-year 4th grade fundraiser in which students can purchase a T-Shirt decorated with the signatures of the entire 4th grade.

4th Grade Slideshow: Create a slideshow with photos of all of the 4th grade students to view on 4th Grade Survivor Day.

4th Grade Survivor Day: Volunteers are needed to organize and plan a special tradition for graduating 4th graders.  It is a high-energy, all day event incorporating a mix of physical and intellectual challenges to involve ALL students.
